Every season I am always just as keen to see the runway beauty looks as the sartorial offerings and Spring Summer 15 didn’t disappoint. I have gathered together the most wearable, not so wearable and (in my opinion) most exciting beauty trends I saw on the catwalk in my SS15 Beauty Edit below. I am keen as a bean to try them all out!
Lips took a backseat this year as SS15 backstage beauty was all about the eyes and eyebrows. One of the more striking eye makeup looks that caught my eye was gold glitter placement by Pat Magrath at Anna Sui. I think this trend is totally wearable when paired with dewy, bronzed skin and bare/pink-nude lips. A paired down bronzed makeup look will give the glitter the freedom to look more organic and sexy, rather than forcing it into an immaculate application. Think studio 54 meets Shipwrecked.
Moving from undone to perfectly precise, I loved the idea of flipping the classic cats-eye on its head with this under eye, winged liner look at Nicholas K. Lauren Anderson, head makeup artist at Avon, linked the inner and outer corners of the lower lash line as you would if you were doing your classic cat eye – just mirror image. Bold Graphic and unexpected – me likey a lot!
The ombre trend shows no sign of stopping and the newest way to work a colour fade is on the lower water line. Eyes at Holly Fulton were lined with a pastel blue liner that faded to white. This is the perfect way to open up and brighten your eyes with some added interest. A definite do-er for SS15.
Is it just me or did the artfully clumped and spiked lashes at Rochas had a whiff of sad clown about them? Anywho, I loved this look and felt it played up a whimsical, sad baby-doll look; sort of mussed up like you’ve had a little cry over losing your favourite toy?
Brows were doing new things at the SS15 shows and Rodarte courted controversy with punked-up brows sporting rows of fake piercings. Badgley Mischka incorporated the pastel hair trend into the brows too by running colour chalks through hair lengths and brows. Not sure how wearable these two trends are but it’s got me thinking about taking my blue mascara to places it’s never gone before…
The winner of the SS15 Best Beauty Look (and I mean the look that I felt worked together in its entirety; no lash, lip or cm of skin unconsidered) goes to Erdem for their organic and raw beauties, flushed with jungle fever. The dewy yet matte complexions worked perfectly with creme stained cheeks and just bitten pouts. This look is fresh faced, wearable and transcends the seasons, so you can get started on it early spring! Blooming Lovely!
