Fake a Summer Glow: Style Lobster Vlog Tutorial

fake a summer glow still

Making vlogs seemed like a natural progression from my beauty and style ramblings, however not even training as an actress could have prepared me for this challenge! Just when I thought my relationship with my MacBook Pro couldn’t get any more intimate I am now in an tumulus relationship with iMovie and my camera tripod. My fedora is off to all you vlogettes who have mastered the art of the self-recorded vlog sesh.

For my first ever vlog I wanted to dive right in with a vlog/tutorial mash-up on my favourite makeup looks of the summer. To some the summer glow is attainable as the air they breathe, others it is but a dream marooned on that faraway island you will never reach. I am in the latter camp and have relied heavily on all of the products I talk about below in order to transform my pale, English rose complexion into something a lot more seasonal.

Fake your way to a sunkissed, glowing makeup look with this beauty tutorial, no sun needed!

Recipe: Immune Boosting Smoothie

I have been feeling a little under the weather recently – too many late nights, long days at work ending in large glasses of wine.

I decided to give myself a little health kick and hopefully boost my immune system enough to shake this pesky cold I have and ward off any other viruses floating around.

I am not a massive fan of fruit, much preferring to get my vitamins from vegetables, however I am not blind to the fact many fruits are packed full of antioxidants that can kick all those germy free radicals in the ass!

I have put together a quick and blananced smoothie recipe you can blitz together with minimal effort if, like me, you need a healthy boost.

Handful of Red Grapes – Full of antioxidants, flavonoids myricetin and quercetin which help the body to counter-act harmful free radical formation

Handful of Blueberries – a well known superfood these have the highest content of antioxidants of all fruits

Handful of Spinach – rich in vitamins spinach is also a good source of Niacin and Zinc which help you to absorb all the good nutrients you put in your body. And trust me you cant even taste it in the smoothie!

Heaped tablespoon of Pomegranate Seeds – Studies suggest pomegranate juice is anti-inflammatory. It also helps cleanse the circulatory system, increase oxygen flow to the heart and lower blood pressure. Research also suggests that drinking fresh pomegranate juice can also inhibit viral infections like colds.

1 peeled Tangerine – A rich source of vitamin C

Juice of a whole Lime plus 1/2 the rind – a rich source of vitamin C the lime also helps boost the digestive system

Coconut Milk – Rich in Vitamins A, E & C and also lauric acid which has germ-fighting, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties that are very effective at ridding the body of viruses, bacteria and countless illnesses

Chuck it all in the blender pour on the coconut milk and whizz for 1-2 mins. If you prefer it ice cold add in a few ice cubes.

Voilà! Feeling healthier already 😉

The Weekend Edit: Net-a-Porter PF14 Picks

PF14 Weekend Look
It’s a double post today folks! What a wet Bank Holiday Monday today has been but I won’t let the weather stop me from venturing out of the house. My weekend look is a perfect pre-fall edit.
Relax in Acne’s salmon pink jumper and Frame destroyed denim jeans. Isabel Marant’s wool, tweed blazer makes for a cosy yet chic coverup. To toughen up the look I added Alexander Wang’s Prism shoulder bag with rose gold accents and Irene point toe flats with a Maison Michel black, felt fedora.
Finish the look with Illesteva sunglasses and a comfortable swipe of Elizabeth Ardent’s lip protectant stick with a juicy hint of dark berry pigment.Weekend away!BLOG SIG
